Last month, Tennis Channel was in Cuba to document an unprecedented transformation of the country's National Tennis Center. It was the latest example of how tennis can be used to help change lives for the better. We told many memorable stories and looked back at some of the network's most notable efforts of giving back.
Tennis Channel participated in the unveiling of the newly-refurbished tennis courts at the Cuban National Tennis Center in Havana. In attendance at the historic event were Hall of Famers Martina Navratilova, Stan Smith and Jim Courier. The trio instructed young players on court and lent invaluable advice. The tennis legends also took some time to see the incredible sights of the city.
"This project is historic because the first bricks and mortar isn't over building a hotel or building a restaurant," said Jake Agna, the founder of Kids on the Ball. "It was just to build tennis courts. And to have that done as the first opening of the two countries, I think that's inspiring."
