WATCH Day 4 Winners & Losers: 30s is the New 20s

PARIS -- Today we were in for a treat as over 30-year-olds -- defending champion Novak Djokovic, nine-time champion Rafael Nadal, and 2002 finalist Venus Williams -- proved 30s is the new 20s. Also on center stage today was women's defending champ Garbine Muguruza, who had to battle for the win. Steve Johnson, whose reaction after his win tugged at our heartstrings, made us all emotional and such. Not so graceful was his opponent Borna Coric in his defeat, which was a shame.

Still morning his father, who was a big figure in the tennis world, Johnson battled past resilient Coric 6-2, 7-6 (8), 3-6, 7-6 (6). The American couldn't hold back tears as he sobbed after his win in memory of his late father.

30-year-old Djokovic, who is attempting to be the first man in the Open Era to win each of the Grand Slams twice, had no trouble advancing past Joao Sousa 6-1, 6-4, 6-3 to book a spot in the third round.

30-year-old Nadal, who has his own agenda, which is to be the first man to win ten titles in one Grand Slam tournament, cruised past Robin Haase 6-1, 6-4, 6-3.

Defiant Muguruza refused to go away as she rallied from a set down to advance to the third round with a 6-7 (4), 6-4, 6-2 over 53rd-ranked Anett Kontaveit.

36-year-old Williams, the oldest woman in the draw, played like a 20-year-old as she routed 25-year-old Kurumi Nara, 6-3, 6-1 en route to the third round.

Coric was a sour loser today as he threw a tantrum after falling 6-2, 7-6 (8), 3-6, 7-6 (6) to Johnson in a highly-contested second round match.

No. 6 seed Dominika Cibulkova lost to Ons Jabeur, who is ranked no. 114.
